Join La Casa de Don Pedro’s collective mission to empower people and revitalize neighborhoods, every step of the way! Contact us at email@example.com to share your interests. We love our volunteers!
Typically we are able to host large corporate community service activities, organize a family give back day, or work directly with individuals looking to volunteer. When life returns to some level of normalcy and we can organize in large groups, contact us!
April/May: Spring Cleaning at La Casa’s Preschool and Head Start centers located throughout Newark. Experienced as well as less experienced landscapers willing to get their hands dirty are welcome. Landscaping supplies, such as exterior paint, large storage sheds, soil, shrubs, mulch, pots for planting, vegetable and flower seedlings are also in need.
July: #Project Backpack: La Casa’s Backpack and School Supplies Drive. Help us collected 1000s of donations donations of quality backpacks, folders, pencils, crayons, notebooks, pencil cases, and the range of school supplies school children of all ages need for school this fall. Businesses were also welcome to hold their own drives to support the cause or they can coordinate directly with us.
August – September: Burgers & Brew Week. To be held September 20-26, Burgers and Brew Week will promote Local and black owned food, beer (and wine) and offer a range of interactive experiences. The week is our virtual alternative to our popular fundraiser Burgers & Brew held each September. Join a Facebook group of like minded lovers of all things burgers, brew (and wine, too).
November/December: #GivingTuesday Holiday Food and Toy Drive. We collect holiday meal ingredients and gifts for children of all ages (0-20) to distribute over the December holidays. Business can adopt a classroom, an entire preschool or after school enrichment program group by purchasing gifts directly from the children’s wish lists. We will handle the distributions due to COVID-19 restrictions.
What better way to get inspired about a career path than hearing about someone first hand with a passion for what they do. With plenty of youth, young adults, and older adults who participate in our educational and career programs, this year, for the first time, we’d like to organize one or more career panels to introduce people to the boundless career paths available. Volunteer to share your professional background on a panel. Date and target group (i.e. youth, teens, adults) is up for discussion.
