Join La Casa de Don Pedro’s collective mission to empower people and revitalize neighborhoods, every step of the way! Contact us at email@example.com to share your interests. We love our volunteers!
April/May: Spring Cleaning at La Casa’s Preschool and Head Start centers located throughout Newark. Experienced as well as less experienced landscapers willing to get their hands dirty are welcome. Landscaping supplies, such as exterior paint, large storage sheds, soil, shrubs, mulch, pots for planting, vegetable and flower seedlings are also in need.
July: #Project Backpack: La Casa’s Backpack and School Supplies Drive. We’re seeking donations of quality backpacks, folders, pencils, crayons, notebooks, pencil cases, and the range of school supplies school children of all ages will need to be prepared to enter school in the fall. Businesses are welcome to hold their own drives to support the cause or they can coordinate directly with us.
We can host large corporate community service activities, organize a family give back day, or work directly with individuals looking to volunteer.
August – September: Burgers & Brew Week. 2020 Is the inaugural year for Burgers and Brew Week, our virtual alternative to our popular fundraiser Burgers & Brew held each September at McLoone’s Boathouse in West Orange. Learn how to support local restaurants and breweries, particularly Black Owned Establishments, while joining a group of like minded lovers of all things burgers, brew (and wine, too) and supporting La Casa’s COVID-19 relief efforts.
November/December: #GivingTuesday Holiday Food and Toy Drive. We collect holiday meal ingredients and gifts for children of all ages (0-18) to distribute over the December holidays. Business can adopt a classroom, an entire preschool or after school enrichment program group by purchasing gifts directly from the children’s wish lists. Distribute the gifts directly to the children as well as sort and organize food during the food drive distribution.
What better way to get inspired about a career path than hearing about someone first hand with a passion for what they do. With plenty of youth, young adults, and older adults who participate in our educational and career programs, this year, for the first time, we’d like to organize one or more career panels to introduce people to the boundless career paths available. Volunteer to share your professional background on a panel. Date and target group (i.e. youth, teens, adults) is up for discussion.
