La Casa de Don Pedro is a HUD Certified Housing Counseling Agency committed to creating affordable homeownership opportunities, helping families navigate through the homeownership process, and helping them retain their homes when they’re facing troubles. Being HUD Certified means that our staff and our organization have gone through rigorous application processes, trainings and certifications by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development to ensure we are experts in the complexities when it comes to housing counseling and homeownership.

First Time Homebuyer Education Classes

HUD Approved workshops, counseling, and advice on buying a home. Taking a course and obtaining a certificate are required before purchasing any affordable homes for sale by La Casa. All homebuyer education classes are currently offered online at www.ehomeamerica.org/lacasa.

Foreclosure Prevention Counseling

HUD Approved one on one counseling for households experiencing financial hardships that impacts their ability to manage their mortgage or tax payments. Counseling includes advice on defaults, short sales, foreclosures and suggests tools available to prevent a foreclosure.

Financial Capability Counseling

Financial education workshops and counseling on topics on budgeting, savings, credit repair, and financial goal setting.

Affordable Homeownership Opportunities

La Casa builds and sells quality affordable homes for first time homebuyers. The majority of the homes are located in Newark’s Lower Broadway neighborhood, located in the southernmost area of the city’s North End.
