Summer Enrichment Day Camp

During July and August La Casa de Don Pedro provides a full day camp program for children between the ages of 5 to 12 years of age. Children are grouped by ages with a maximum number of ten children who are supervised by trained and experienced staff members.

Each day offers a different program with activities that include arts and crafts, games and activities, and special sessions that include a range of interests from yoga, dance, drama, Tae Kwando, capoeira to stepping. These special program elements change to align with the childrens’  interests and our ability to retain qualified instructional staff and professionals. Many of these special sessions are provided by professionals or through collaborations with other institutions such as the Newark Museum, New Jersey Performing Arts Center and GlassWorks. In addition the children attend day trips that take them outside of their regular environment to places such as theme parks, swimming pools, museums, hiking trails, and professional baseball games.

In order to bridge the school year and prevent learning loss, children are provided a fun learning experience to help sustain their basic skills in reading and writing.

Children receive a healthy breakfast and lunch daily to ensure they are well nourished.  All meals are prepared by La Casa’s catering affiliate “La Olla” with our own professional chef and his staff.

Our staff consists of year round professional employees as well as specially recruited college student counselors. All personnel are certified and receive specialized training in CPR and First Aid. In addition to our adult staff small groups are supported by hand selected junior counselors chosen based on their commitment to youth development and leadership.
