Project Backpack Back to School Drive

Thanks to our generous donors, Project Backpack helped prepare more than 1,000 Newark youth to be ready for school.

Hundreds of individuals, generous corporations, the Newark Public Schools District, and many small businesses came together to support #Project Backpack, collecting approximately 1,200 backpacks and thousands of school supplies for children and youth of all ages.

Employees from companies including Audible, Valley Bank, Women in Flavor and Fragrance Commerce, and M&T Bank volunteered with La Casa staff to help organize and stuff the backpacks. La Casa distributed the backpacks to La Casa’s children and youth enrolled in early childhood, after school enrichment, adult education & opportunity youth programs, and distributed more than 200 backpacks to those who received Covid-19 vaccinations in August as part of our vaccination campaign.
