La Casa de Don Pedro’s annual reception, La Casa es su Casa, celebrated and recognized the leaders who uplift Newark’s people and communities during the city’s period of change and growth

Newark, NJ [April 15, 2019] La Casa de Don Pedro, one of Northern New Jersey’s premier community based social service and community development organizations, hosted its signature cocktails and hors d’oeuvres reception, La Casa es su Casa with the theme, “Newark on the Map in the Face of Change,” on Thursday, April 11th at the New Jersey Performing Arts Centers. Guests enjoyed musical performances, the premiere of the video, “Newark on the Map in the Face of Change,” presentations by the honorees and La Casa’s leadership, and performances by the New Jersey Performing Arts Center’s Wells Fargo Jazz for Teens band. “Newark on the Map in the Face of Change” was an evening that celebrated and recognized the leaders, both serving behind the scenes, and those up front and center, who are helping uplift Newark’s people and communities during this time of change and growth.

With Aisha Glover, President  & CEO of the Newark Alliance as the evening’s emcee, La Casa es su Casa “Newark on the Map in the Face of Change” honored Newark’s Mayor Honorable Ras J. Baraka, Prudential Financial’s Impact Investing Team, Annmarie Basile,and La Casa de Don Pedro’s Education & Workforce Team. Mayor Ras J. Baraka has been leading The City of Newark towards development and social equity by championing strategies that promote equitable economic growth that create opportunities for minority and low-income communities. Founded on the belief that financial security should be within everyone’s reach, Prudential Financial’s Impact Investing Team has been a pioneer in impact investing, managing one of the largest impact investment portfolios in the world. For more than a dozen years Annmarie Basile’s acts of kindness and generosity through coordinating countless food and toy drives have nourished and uplifted thousands of Newark’s families. La Casa’s Education and Workforce Team has increased the economic vitality of thousands of Newarkers through adult education, English language instruction, and career training opportunities. The evening’s honorees highlighted their excitement about the future of the city of Newark and the role everyone can play in its advancement & equitable development.
