WE’VE PARTNERED WITH WORLD CENTRAL KITCHEN TO DISTRIBUTE MORE FOOD TO NEWARKERS IN NEED

La Casa de Don Pedro is pleased to announce that World Central Kitchen has joined our COVID-19 food relief efforts to ensure more Newarkers affected by the COVID-19 pandemic have the meals they need to feed themselves and their families.

Our first food distribution with WCK took place on Tuesday, July 21st. La Casa shared approximately 230 hot meals to families facing extreme hardship and food insecurity from three locations in Newark’s Central and South Wards at 202 1st Street Early Childhood Center, 23 Broadway Youth & Family Center, and 21 Dewey St Early Head Start Center. Local restaurants McGovern’s Tavern, O’LaLa Empanadas, and Robert’s Pizzeria prepared and delivered the meals and La Casa staff distributed the dishes to pre-screened Newarkers in need while following proper social distancing protocols.

With five additional food deliveries scheduled over the next two weeks, we are excited to report that this project is helping leverage our existing COVID-19 relief food distribution program in partnership with Table to Table, Newark Public Schools and donors like you that provide fresh produce and supermarket gift cards. Our goal is to sustain and build upon our relationship with WCK to impact even more families over a longer period of time.  We invite you to contribute to our food distribution efforts by making a donation today.
